CASE STUDY:
Rockwell Automation - OSG
About Rockwell Automation – One Spec Global
Sector: Industrial Automation Manufacturer
Company size: 25,000-30,000
In this case study, we will examine Rockwell Automation, a prominent global manufacturer of industrial automation products, systems, and drives. Renowned for their industry-leading hardware, software, and services, Rockwell Automation delivers resilient, agile, and sustainable manufacturing solutions. Their dedication to collaboration fosters improved outcomes and drives exceptional results.
Rockwell Automation distributes its products globally through a network of specialized distributors and partners. These organisations work together as part of the worldwide Automation Partner Ecosystem, providing integrated solutions that enhance the quality and design of implementation projects.
Rockwell Automation is committed to supporting its Global customers with tools to support the delivery of hardware solutions that meet centralised specification guidelines. The ability to specify product usage within a large-scale national project ensures that multiple partners can deliver product solutions to a single customer specified standard. Ensuring compliance and reliability is paramount to a successful rollout.

The Challenge
Rockwell Automation aimed to create a centralized portal to facilitate the sharing of specifications for large-scale project delivery. This portal would consolidate technical information and build requirements for various product assemblies, ensuring consistent and efficient product assembly and delivery. A major challenge was to create a secure environment where technical specifications could be shared across partners, while also enabling the upload of BOM components and relevant documentation. Additionally, the platform needed to manage revision updates and proactively handle alerts and communication.
The goal was to develop a secure, web-based platform that could support both large civil and government projects, ensuring compliance with an agreed-upon framework around the clock, every day of the year. The system required enough flexibility to accommodate a wide range of project types and deliverables.
The Solution
Through our close partnership with Rockwell Automation, we developed a deep understanding of their requirements, allowing us to deliver a fully integrated solution. The platform was designed in August 2022 and launched in October of the same year.
This new platform provides a flexible project framework where customers can define requirements and specifications, ensuring that agreed-upon partners build solutions to consistent standards. This “One Spec” approach has enabled successful delivery of complex projects by multiple partners, thereby expanding resources for national and global projects.

Previously, this process was highly time-consuming and inefficient, as specifications were often shared via email, making revision control difficult. This led to delays and impacted delivery timelines. The new solution eliminated manual processes, streamlined operations, and improved communication, leading to enhanced performance and customer satisfaction.
The system has become an essential tool for framework customers, helping them manage large scale national and global automation projects. Built on robust architecture within our dedicated infrastructure, the platform offers reliable performance.
Today, we continue to support and develop the platform, ensuring a consistent, stable, and reliable service that delivers real-world benefits to Rockwell Automation and its global customers.
