A major innovation in this area is the development of an operator awareness platform designed to highlight current and upcoming works orders by production bay. This platform provides the production team with specific information on currently assigned work and provides visual awareness of target build times driving efficiency and increasing throughput.

The Challenge

Kannegiesser sought to improve awareness of manufacturing operations giving operators visual feedback on current work and build targets. A key obstacle was the current build sheet process used by the team didn’t provide feedback on build performance and as a result build schedules could often been extended. This created inefficiencies and slowed down the production cycle.

Their goal was to develop a platform that would integrate with their ERP system and provide clear and precise information to production engineers within manufacturing bays. The desired system needed to provide real-time works order data to operators whilst giving a visual representation of allowed build times.

The Solution

Through our close partnership, we gained a deep understanding of Kannegiesser’s requirements, enabling us to provide a customised solution encompassing both hardware and software. The integration and software were completed in March 2022 and installed to all production bays the following month. This platform greatly enhanced operator efficiency leading to increased production rates.

The previously manual works order sheets were replaced with operator specific real-time build information. As a result, Kannegiesser was able to enhance their production environment ensuring that works orders were routed automatically to designated production bays. These changes allowed for the concise communication of build targets, enhancing operations and scheduling.

The system has become fully integrated into Kannegiesser’s existing ERP and manufacturing process. To ensure maximum flexibility and security, we built the platform on a robust architecture hosted within our dedicated infrastructure, supporting constant changes and added functionality without compromising performance or long-term maintainability—crucial for meeting future demands.

Today, we remain directly involved in the ongoing development of the platform, using the Aspurian agile development approach to continuously introduce new functionalities that apply the latest innovations, creating lasting value for Kannegiesser.
